Summer@ The Art House 2024: A Dazzling Mix of Comedy, Cabaret, and Family Fun!

by LukeAdmin

Summer just got hotter, with Wave Two of Summer@ The Art House officially announced.

Get ready for a mammoth month of arts, entertainment, and experiences with The Art House’s most exciting Summer@ program ever! Twelve shows, 20 performances, seven workshops, a NSW Government supported holiday break initiative, and a direct transfer from Sydney Festival. Stand-up, cabaret, puppetry, show tunes, Central Coast artists, Australian stories, swing & soul, and so much more – The Art House is the place to be this summer!

Wave Two kicks off with Australian Drag Diva and international cabaret superstar Trevor Ashley. Fresh from her stint as runner-up on Ru Paul’s drag queen singing show Queen of the Universe, ‘TrAshley’ will spill the tea and sing the house down with her new show Queen of the Moment.

The mystifying Adam Mada will make his Art House debut with Mada’s Magic Marvels. Spellbinding illusions will leave the little ones (and adults!) in a state of wonder. School holiday fun for the whole family, kids will also love Mada’s Magic Marvels Workshop, where they’ll become magician apprentices to Mr Magic himself!

Soup enthusiast and certified weirdo Sam Simmons is back with new show – Man With a Fork in a World Full of Soup – ponder the power of puree and muse over minestrone with Australia’s hottest up-and-coming absurdist comic.

The Coast’s own Curtain Bounce Players will delight musical lovers in An Afternoon of Broadway Tunes. Featuring hit songs from musicals the world over, celebrate homegrown talent in this on-stage cabaret, where audiences will sit on stage with the artists for an intimate afternoon of Broadway ballads and awe-inspiring arias. They can make it the perfect Sunday matinee by pre-ordering a sweets and fruits platter to enjoy at their table.

On a mission to spread music that’s funky fresh, The Vegetable Plot (part of the ABC Kids Music Family) will have the whole family singing and dancing. The internationally acclaimed children’s band will also help little patrons bloom into big performers with their Magic Garden Music & Songwriting Workshop.

Direct from her sold-out season at Darlinghurst Theatre Company, The Divine Miss Bette is a bawdy, brash, and rapturous experience. Starring Australian musical theatre darling Cath Alcorn – trained by Steve Ostrow, the man who discovered Bette Midler – this dazzling production, backed by an all-star live band and dancers, is a rollercoaster ride of the diva’s classic hits.

Tommy Little, the king ‘deckhead’ of Aussie comedy himself, also returns for Summer@ The Art House 2024, in Tommy Little Has a Regular Size Deck. An Art House favourite, his razor-sharp wit, wild stories and infectious energy are guaranteed to deliver an hour that will leave you in stitches.

With a few surprises still to come, don’t miss Summer@ The Art House this January. It’s the hottest thing to happen to the Central Coast!
